Everything Shook - Original track description
The song works with a dark discordant synth underlay and overlapping drums. The lyrics describe ‘the virgin whore’ dichotomy of living in a society where women are expected to be up with the times - sexually liberated and available - but can then be left feeling scrutinised and objectified for doing so. There is a wry irony in the opening line ‘Thought I was on some new spiritual path, but it turns out that I’m just a slut.’ The chorus lyrics: ‘I’ll cook you, I'll boil you, I'll bake you’ are about bringing someone home, accidentally leaving the storage heater on overnight in a drunken stupor and literally cooking them.
